In celebration of hundreds of years of fashion, Zuri Gia
decided to launch alongside this year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival. To kick off fashion week, MBFF showcased a vintage pop-up Lifeline
Charity shop located in the square of Brisbane City Hall. Accompanied with free coffee, we sifted through the many racks of preloved clothing and dug for the gems. And sure enough, we found
them.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival is a showcase of local
Australian designers' current season collection held in each city annually. There are no
bounds that define what the designer should showcase, which makes for an
incredible week. The main fashion parades are held in the newly restored main
auditorium in Brisbane City Hall. Those that attend the fashion shows are rarely disappointed,
as the range of concepts and colours behind the designs is so diverse.
The 2014 show featured the likes of Alex Perry, Akira,
Easton Pearson, George Wu, Ginger & Smart, Herringbone, Seafolly, Sass
& Bide, Ted Baker, Tengdahl and Wayne Cooper. MBFF donated $1 from every ticket sold at this year’s event
to Lifeline, the charity that supports the everyday Australian. Not only does Lifeline aid communities during natural disasters, but they are also a phone call
away to those that need someone to talk to.
